Wildcats Slip by Cavegirls, 39-36

After building up a 24-18 half-time lead over the Lovington Wildcats, shooting woes proved costly for the Cavegirls during the second. CHS scored just 12 points over the final two periods, while the Wildcats (10-6) dropped in 21.

As a result, CHS fell to the Cats 39-36. The game took place in the Cavern City on Tuesday, January 14.

Abbey Dugan, with 20 points, and Becca Brown, with 9, led all CHS scorers.

On Friday, January 17, the Cavegirls (13-4) will be in Las Cruces to take on the Mayfield Trojans. On Saturday in Las Cruces, they’ll tangle with the Centennial Hawks.

Cavegirls Sink Organ Mt. 64-31

It was business as usual for the Cavegirls on Friday night, January 10, in Carlsbad. CHS rolled over the Organ Mt. Knights 64-31 to push their 2024-25 record up to 13-2.

Abbey Dugan, with 27 points, and Jasmynn Gonzales, with 15, led the CHS effort. Also scoring were Hayden Brose, nine; Becca Brown, six; Maci Garcia and Cameron Zumbrun, three; and Faith Kluesner, one.

Centennial 43, C-girls 33

A cool night of shooting for the Cavegirls led to a 43-33 loss to the Centennial Hawks in Carlsbad on Saturday, January 11.

Down by just one at the half, 19-18, Carlsbad couldn’t find the range during the second. Outscored 24-15 over the final two periods, CHS lost 43-33 and fell to 13-3 on the season.

Abbey Dugan, with nine points and six rebounds; Jasmynn Gonzales, with eight points and seven rebounds; Hayden Brose, with seven points; and Becca Brown, with six points and 11 rebounds, topped the CHS stat charts.
