The Cavemen and Cavegirl tennis squads recently competed in the Rural New Mexico Invitational in Las Cruces. Both the boys and girls registered 1-3 records in the dual-meet format.
CHS’s teams defeated Mayfield but dropped matches to Centennial, Piedra Vista, and Farmington.
“This tournament was a tough one for our kids. But both squads fought hard throughout the tournament,” said CHS assistant coach Diamond Morrill. “We knew there would be a lot of really good programs entered in the meet, the very reason we scheduled it.
“Competing against quality teams helps to make our kids better,” she said. “We learned a lot of things at the Rural Invitational, and the things we learned there will help us to be better prepared for district and state.”
Both the Cavemen and Cavegirls will be in Amarillo on Friday and Saturday, March 28-29, to compete in the Amarillo Relays.
