Sports Roundup - Tough District Start for CHS Soccer

Tough times continue to follow Carlsbad High’s soccer programs as both the Cavemen and Cavegirls dropped their first three District 4/5A games of the 2024 season.

On Tuesday, October 1, in their conference openers, the Cavegirls dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to the Clovis Wildcats in the Cavern City. In Clovis on October 1, the Cavemen fell to the Cats 6-1.

On Saturday, October 5, both the Cavemen and Cavegirls lost to the Roswell Coyotes by identical 2-0 scores.

On Tuesday, October 8, the Cavegirls fell to the Hobbs Eagles, 2-0. The Cavemen also lost to Hobbs 10-1.

The three losses dropped both teams to 0-3 in District 4/5A play. On the year, the Cavegirls are 4-13, the Cavemen 2-15.

The CHS soccer programs will take on the Clovis Wildcats again on Tuesday, October 15. The Cavemen will host the Cats, while the Cavegirls will play on the road. The JVs will take the field first at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6:30 p.m. at both sites.

District Standings as of October 9: Boys: 1T- Hobbs 2-0-1, 1T- Roswell 2-0-1, 3. Clovis 1-2. 4. Carlsbad 0-3; Girls- 1. Hobbs 3-0, 2. Roswell 2-1, 3. Clovis 1-2, 4. Carlsbad 0-3.
