Local Students to Perform in Australia in July

A successful audition last year earned Ethni Florez and Jacob Chapler, choir students at Carlsbad Early College High School, the opportunity to perform in the Honor Performance Series at Royal Festival Hall in London. This year, they auditioned and qualified to perform with the Sydney Opera House Honor Choir in Sydney, Australia, in July.

The “dynamic duo” is preparing for their second international trip and working toward completing their fundraising to travel, said Robin Irving, Choir Director with CECHS. “They really loved the musical experiences they had in London, and it was on that trip that they decided they would both audition for the next international opportunity that the Honors Performance Series organization offered. In spite of the extraordinary opportunities they’ve had, Jacob and Ethni are two of the most humble and grounded students I have ever worked with...and also two of the most competitive,” she said.
