The boys’ and girls’ District 4/5A Basketball Tournaments will tip off on Tuesday, February 25, and run through Saturday, March 1.

Both the Cavemen (16-9, 2-3) and Cavegirls (17-8, 2-3) will finish third in conference play for the 2024-25 season. As a result, both will serve as hosts for the District 4/5A Tournament’s opening round on Tuesday night, February 25.

Tipoffs for those games have been set for the boys at 5:30 p.m. and girls at 7 p.m.

In those games, the Cavegirls will collide with the Roswell Coyotes (13-12, 0-5), while the Cavemen will face off against the Clovis Wildcats (8-15, 0-5). In previous conference meetings this year, the Cavegirls swept the Coyotes 43-32, 58-34. The Cavemen followed suit by downing Clovis, 55-43, 58-43.

Winners of those games will move on to second-round action on Thursday, February 27, at the sites of the next highest seeds. For the Cavegirls, that would be Clovis. Just who the Cavemen would play, Hobbs or Roswell, was uncertain at the Local’s press time.

Winners of those games will pack their bags and head to the site of this year’s regular season conference champions to compete for the 2024-25 District 4/5A Tournament Championship. Those sites would be in Hobbs for the girls and Roswell or Hobbs for the boys on Saturday, March 1.
