Cavemen, Cavegirls Soccer Opens District Play

By Don Eskins

The Cavemen and Cavegirls soccer teams will open District 4/5A play on Tuesday, October 1, against the Clovis Wildcats.

The Cavegirls will host Clovis while the Cavemen will be on the road. The JVs will take the field at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 6:30 p.m. at both sites.

Pre-district play has been especially difficult for both squads. The Cavegirls will kick off the district season with a record of 4-10, the Cavemen 2-12.

Injuries have played a big role in both teams' struggles this year. But, ready or not, the conference season is here, and it appears that both teams will definitely be challenged.

The Cavegirls will ride into their matchup with Clovis following a 4-0 victory over Lovington in Carlsbad on Tuesday, September 24.
