Carlsbad BPA Students Show Up Strong at Regionals

By Misty Cryer

Carlsbad students and the organizations that employ them are fortunate to have robust programs that allow students to develop essential skills at the high school level. Business Professionals of America (BPA) members from the Carlsbad High School (CHS) BPA Chapter and the Carlsbad Early College High School (CECHS) BPA Chapter did well at the Regional Leadership Conference held recently, with multiple students qualifying to compete at the state level.

“BPA is a national career and technical student organization that empowers students to excel in business and technology,” Audriana Cortez, a student and member of the CECHS Chapter, explained in a brief of the event. “Through competitive events, leade

rship opportunities, and networking experiences, BPA members gain valuable skills and prepare for future success in the workforce.”

Terry Carrera, BPA Advisor with the CHS BPA Chapter, provided a summary and results of CHS student competition, saying members competed in both test and presentation events. “Forty-five members competed; 43 have qualified for state. CHS BPA placed first in 29 regional events.”
